The Greene School, a tuition-free statewide public charter school and Rhode Island’s only Expeditionary Learning School (eleducation.org), will hold an Open House on Saturday October 15 from 9 am – 1 pm. Using the school’s 70-acre campus and fieldwork sites across the State of Rhode Island, The Greene School emphasizes environmental education to connect students to the natural world.
The Rhode Island Environmental Education Association (RIEEA) has named The Greene School its Environmental Education Organization of the Year, commemorating its commitment to shaping the next generation of environmental stewards. The Greene School, located in West Greenwich, opened in 2010 with the mission of “developing citizens and leaders engaged in finding peaceful and sustainable solutions to local and global challenges.”
On April 30, 2022, the Rhode Island Environmental Education Association ( RIEEA) held its annual summit and our school was awarded Environmental Education Organization of the Year! School leaders, Board Members and Students were there to accept the honor. Sophomore and Junior TGS students present their final products from their semester long expeditions to members of the public at both the State House and on campus. Thank you to The San Miguel school and Segue Institute for learning for visiting our campus on this beautiful spring morning.

Our students and teachers continue to reach great heights! Under the guidance of our art teacher Ms. Truskoski, three TGS students had their photography work submitted to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards! The students are Viola E, Damilola O, and Jillian M. RI Charter School admissions applications will open soon. Click on this link and use the Family Information Tool to research our state's many charter schools and decide which ones may be the right choice for your student. Then simply apply through EnrollRI. The lottery date for All RI Charter Schools for the 2022/2023 school year is April 1, 2022.
The Greene School was selected to receive a donation from the East Greenwich Rotary Club sponsored through an E-Waste Recycling and Paper Shredding event. The event will be held on Saturday, April 23 at New England Tech in East Greenwich, RI from 9 AM- 12PM. There will be school staff and students there to personally thank you for your commitment to recycle appropriately and safely as well as for your donation.
Greene School students contribute their original poetry in new book titled "Voices of The Earth, The Future of Our Planet II.
Students from The Greene School in West Greenwich are featured in the publication as well. Thirteen students had their poems published, including Melanie Morales, John Boulmetis, Bryan Rios, C.M. Conlon, and Jaeda Medina. Founded in 2007, The Greene School is an environmental charter high school serving students in grades nine through 12.
