We as a school are committed to proficiency-based grading. We believe as learning community proficiency-based grades give more realistic feedback to parents and students in regards to their academic growth. However, if you want to translate the numeric scores (level of proficiencies) to a final letter grade for the course, they would translate as follows:

*End of year grades will be the average of the score achieved on each long-term academic learning target for each course, which will result in non-whole numbers.

Habit of Work (HOW) is an important component of the Climate and Culture and each student’s success at The Greene School. Good Habits of Work (HOW) support a safe learning environment, develop self-discipline, and provide the foundation for a culture of achievement. They are at least as valuable a set of skills and attitudes as any academic content or skills students will master during their school career. (Being on time, listening well, and contributing to the success of group work certainly count as much as successfully completing geometric proofs and five paragraph essays.)

Student performance on our Habits of Work constitutes one of the criteria for the Greene School’s Honor Roll.
