Lottery Admissions

Beginning March 1st, 2013  and continuing throughout the month of March, all fourteen of Rhode Island’s charter public schools will hold blind lotteries to determine their student body for the 2013-2014 school year.  By law, each charter public school is required to conduct a blind lottery when the number of applicants exceeds the number of available spaces.  All charter public school lotteries will be conducted under the supervision of the Rhode Island Department of Education.

At The Greene School, this process takes only a few minutes and is done entirely by a computer program that will randomly sort all the applications for each grade.  Once we have determined which students will be enrolled, the rest of the applicants will be placed on a waiting list. The students who have been enrolled will be notified and will then have approximately 48 hours to decide whether or not they will attend The Greene School.  If they decide not to attend, then an opening will exist and we will notify the first person on the wait list and continue with names on our wait list until we are completely enrolled.

The deadline to have an application in for your child to attend The Greene School for the 2013-2014 school year will be on Wednesday, February 27th.  Our lottery will take place on March 1st, 2013.
